ocr: Solar interior rotation. Red shows faster rotation, blue slower rotation. Throughout the convection zone, the low atifudes around the Sun's equator rotate faster than the higher latitudes. Solar physicists call this differential rotation'. At the lower boundary of the convection zone there is a sharp transition to a solid body rotation of the inner parts of the Sun, which rotate all the same speed.
